How to send TradingView alerts to MT5
By FXTrading4U Editorial Team · Updated 2026-10-30 · 5 min read
TradingView cannot send orders to MetaTrader 5 on its own. You need a bridge: a webhook receiver that passes the alert to an EA running in MT5, a third-party connector service, or an EA that polls an alert feed. Test on a demo account first, because alerts can arrive late or twice.
The three common approaches
- Webhook plus a small server: TradingView posts the alert to your server, which writes it where an MT5 EA can read it.
- A third-party connector: a paid service that receives webhooks and relays them to your MT5 terminal.
- Manual use: use TradingView alerts as notifications and place the trade yourself.
Risks to plan for
Alerts can be delayed, duplicated or missed if your connection drops. Prices on TradingView and your broker also differ slightly, so entries and stops will not match exactly. Always keep a stop loss on the broker side.
Set up alerts that are easy to parse
- Create the alert from the indicator’s alert condition.
- Use a fixed message format such as symbol, action and size.
- Enable the webhook URL (requires a paid TradingView plan).
- Send a few test alerts to a demo account and check each one.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a paid TradingView plan?
Webhook alerts require a paid plan. Check TradingView’s current plan details.
Is this a good way to automate a strategy?
It can work, but adds points of failure. A native MT5 EA is simpler for fully automated trading.
